Became Deputy Supreme Head of State of Malaysia with the title of Timbalan Yang di-Pertuan Agong from 21st September 1975. Assumed the duties of King of Malaysia with the title of Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the death of the incumbent, 29th March 1979. Installed at the Istana Negara, Kuala Lumpur, 30th March 1979.
